Northeast Portland artist Betty Durham is offering an eight-week painting class called “Use Your Digital Photos to Step into the World of Painting.” During the class, the computer becomes a tool with which to crop, manipulate and break digital photographs into layers of information. Students then prepare a canvas and use the computer screen as a reference from which to create an acrylic painting.
The class will meet Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. in Northeast Portland, from June 2 to July 21. Tuition is $180 for new and $150 for returning students. Beginning and intermediate painters are welcome. Students will need to bring their own laptop computers (with Photoshop Elements software) and digital photos. Students do not need to be experts in Photoshop; they just need to know how to open and save a file.
A supply list will be provided at the first class. Enrollment is limited; to register, or for more information, call (503) 284-5016 or e-mail moc.d1511191233nal-c1511191233p@ytt1511191233eb1511191233.
