Despite an early threat of showers, and considerable competition of people’s free time, the 2010 Irvington Community Association Historic Home Tour appears to have been the most successful yet. According to Tour Committee co-chair Jimmie St. Arnold, the ICA sold more than 1,000 tickets this year and more than $1,500 worth of advertising in their tour guide, for a gross of more than $35,000 for the event. Although some expenses remain to be paid, St. Arnold says the ICA is assured of a net take of more than $20,000 and probably closer to $25,000. The funds will be used for more than $10,000 in Charitable Giving to worthy causes serving the neighborhood, public improvements such as a water feature and bench in Irving Park, and the ICA’s own good works.
Among the tour’s major sponsors this year were realtors Billy Grippo, Jim Arnal and the Hassan Company; mortgage brokers Mimi Heil of the RE/MAX Group, Andrew Perry of Premier Mortgage and Tammy Wittren of Northwest Mortgage Group; Consolidated Federal Credit Union; Earthquake Tech; Pratt & Larson Ceramic Tile; and Olson & Jones Construction.
