The management and name remain the same, but the menu is changing.
Jazzkats owner Whitney Baskins has brought on a new chef, Heidi Lovig, who is bringing new fare (which she calls “Heidi Ho Organics”) to the storefront at 1925 N.E. 42nd Ave., Baskins says the intent is to provide “what was lacking in Hollywood menus: vegan and healthy omni fare.” Examples of new sandwiches are the Hollywood Hype – Portobello mushrooms, basil, tomatoes, roasted red peppers and jack cheese; the Academy Award – humus, parsley, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta and greens; the Grants General – bacon or “fakin’” bacon,” tomatoes and greens; and You Da Chef – your own choice of ingredients. All on your choice of Kettleman’s Bagels, Dave’s Killer Bread or La Rosa tortilla chips.
Jazzkats took over the old 42nd Avenue Coffee Shop in 2008. Baskins, who formerly worked there, bought the business nine months ago. Now she is trying to make it truly her own. Hours are weekdays 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
