The good old Beaumont Business Association festival will be back again this year, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 7, with a few new wrinkles.
At 9:30 a.m. participants should report to Beaumont Middle School for the 10 a.m. parade of decorated bikes and children. And this year there will be prizes for the best decorated bike, dog costume, child costume and adult costume. For more information on this call (503) 528-1800 A new feature this year will be Soluna Grill’s Salsa Challenge. Community members are encouraged to bring a gallon of their home-made salsa to Soluna, 4440 N.E. Fremont St. There it will be judged by a panel assembled from area restaurants, and by anyone who wants to pay $5 for a tasting. The judges will award prizes of $100, $50 and $25, while winners of the People’s Choice – as determined by tasters’ ballots – will receive a plaque.
More? You betcha. The Arrangement will hold its annual Dog Days sale in their yard. There will be live music at Amalfi’s Restaurant, Beaumont Hardware and Doc George’s Jazz Kitchen; in the latter case, neighborhood children are invited to come on-stage and play. There will be bounce-houses for youngsters at JMA Realty, a Cake Walk at Paper Jam Press, fresh-made barbecue at Beaumont Hardware, and a petting zoo at Able Body Massage, plus many other special deals still being formulated.
Bellamar Salon will have a show of fall makeup fashions, as well as complementary neck and shoulder massages, hand manipulations and makeup touch-ups.
Along the route will be street vendors. The price for participation for most is $49, but non-profits are particularly welcome. These, if interested in reserving a space, should call (503) 395-3305. All others should contact moc.k1503276969naban1503276969ibla@1503276969ocfas1503276969j1503276969.
And, to help you take it all in, free horse-and-carriage service. What more could you ask? Well, whatever it is, chances are it’s there.
