Hollywood Farmers Market community volunteer coordinator
Before I get into the exciting new project at the Hollywood Farmers Market (HFM), I want to put in a plug for volunteering at your neighborhood farmers market this season. Volunteering at the market is a great way to meet your neighbors, learn more about the farmers at the market and have a great time on Saturday morning. Our annual volunteer orientation will take place Saturday, April 27th, at Rose City Park Presbyterian Church (on the corner of Northeast 44th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard, adjacent to the market), from 10 a.m. to noon. At the orientation, we’ll cover volunteer roles, changes to the 2013 season and other information about the market, as well as possibly a short “rehearsal” of the market setup and breakdown. To RSVP or receive more information, email me, Ari Rosner, at gro.t1511191288ekram1511191288sremr1511191288afdoo1511191288wyllo1511191288h@sre1511191288etnul1511191288ov1511191288. If you can’t make it to the orientation but are still interested in volunteering, contact me and I’ll get you oriented and signed up.
To help you decide what recipes to send in, keep in mind that we’re looking for recipes that:
available from the market the better, keeping in mind that they have to be available at the
same time of the year (winter squash/asparagus recipes are tough to prepare locally).
• Are simple enough to prepare for cooks with differing levels of experience.
available at the market. If you have substitution/variation ideas for your dish, send them
along with the recipe.
The book will be organized by season, so feel free to send recipes for any season of the year. If that seems overwhelming, focus on this time of year (winter going into spring) as those are the recipes that we’ll be testing first.
