Thank you for your continued coverage of the no-parking apartment building proposed for Northeast Fremont between 44th and 45th avenues (“Beaumont project starts demolition,” March, 2013).
To clarify the position of Beaumont-Wilshire Neighbors for Responsible Growth, we cannot file an appeal with LUBA until the building permit has been issued, which has not occurred as of mid-March. Under the appeal rules, we have 21 days from the time of permit issuance to file the appeal. Far from standing on the sidelines, we have been engaged with the process every step of the way—canvassing neighbors, attending city hearings, submitting testimony, following the permit process, raising funds for the appeal, and contacting elected representatives and city staff.
Heartened by recent successes against this type of development in Richmond and Overlook, we’re asking that significant modifications be made to the proposed project to mitigate traffic/public safety, emergency response, and parking concerns. For more information, visit http://bwnrg.blogspot.com.
