Android app developed by Beaumont-Wilshire neighbor has been added to This Old House best products list

A product for measuring the gas in propane tanks, made by Nitz Associates in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, is on This Old House’s list of the best new home products.

The user-friendly Android app, called BBQ TankMeter, checks the fuel level in standard, 20-pound propane tanks used with gas grills, patio heaters and fire pits. It can measure propane levels when the tank is in use or when it’s not.

“Measuring the amount of propane is often an afterthought,” said Fred Nitz, president of Nitz Associates, which he founded in 2002. “We are thrilled that This Old House has recognized the power and simplicity of this tool that allows homeowners to easily check the amount of propane available before grilling.”
