Classic Foods, which supplies fresh artisan pasta, sauces, spices, nuts and cheeses to fine restaurants, will open an outlet store for the general public on the first Friday of each month, beginning December 5.
The business, in a renovated 1932 Art Deco building in the Woodlawn neighborhood, is at 817 N.E. Madrona St. The outlet store will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. on first Fridays, according to spokeswoman Beth Traphagen. The entire inventory will be available to the general public at wholesale prices. While Classic Foods makes its own pasta and sauces, it also imports olive oils, specialty vinegars, soup bases, chocolates and 2,000 other specialty food products, Traphagen said.
The company supplies restaurants and retail grocers in many parts of the state, including metropolitan Portland, the Willamette Valley, the Columbia River Gorge, the Oregon Coast and Bend.
