The association, based in Lakewood, Colorado, assessed the hospital’s patient care, practice protocols, medical equipment, client service and the facility itself, said Kate Spencer, communications manager for the association. The 900 quality standards go beyond basic state regulations, she said.
Unlike hospitals for humans, pet hospitals aren’t required to seek accreditation, Spencer said. For that reason, the accredited pet hospitals are regarded as among the finest in the industry, she said.
The association’s standards are continuously reviewed and updated to keep accredited practices on the cutting-edge of veterinary excellence, she said. To maintain its accreditation, Hollywood Pet Hospital must continue to be evaluated regularly by the association.
Michael Cavanaugh, the association’s chief executive officer, said the staff at Hollywood Pet Hospital “are clearly committed to doing their very best as evidenced by the hard work and effort they put into this voluntary process.”
