A new chief executive, Paul Gaden, will leave Texas to lead Providence Portland Medical Center in January 2014.

At Providence Portland, Gaden will lead a 483-bed facility with 3,100 employees and 1,200 medical staff members. In addition, Gaden will work with leaders at other Providence facilities to provide operational leadership, management and direction. The facilities include Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center and Providence Milwaukie Hospital.
Gaden said he is honored to join Providence Health & Services. “Providence has a reputation for delivering exceptional, compassionate health care to those in need,” he said.

His master of business administration degree is from The College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Va. He and his wife, Tina, have two daughters, Abagail and Hanna.
