Non-profit organizations with civic education programs, especially those relating to the legal system and the judicial system, may be eligible for grants from the Multnomah Bar Foundation.
The foundation, a non-profit supported by local lawyers, judges and others in the legal community, will accept letters of inquiry through January 24. Criteria for the letters and more information about the grants program are available at mbabar.org/foundation/grants.html. Funding will be available in March.
The foundation awarded $44,000 in 2013 to nine organizations. They include the Bus Project Foundation, City Club of Portland, Classroom Law Project, Elders in Action, League of Women Voters of Portland, the Young Lawyers Section of the Multnomah Bar Association, MetroEast Community Media, Northwest Family Services and Sponsors Organized to Assist Refugees. – Janet Goetze
