The Alameda Tuesday Club has celebrated its 100th year of educational programs and community service by supporting improvements to Wilshire Park.
During the centennial year, club members hosted a fund-raising event at McMenamin’s Kennedy School in cooperation with Portland Parks & Recreation and the Portland Parks Foundation, said spokesperson El Sheldon Lawrence. Proceeds provided new playground chips, sports field repairs, asphalt path repairs and installation of an electrical outlet box at Wilshire Park. The club also raised funds to buy a new bench for the park, which is scheduled to be installed later this year.
“It has been a wonderful year of marking Alameda Tuesday Club’s ten decades of community service, our monthly educational programs and monthly luncheon gatherings,” said president Carol Hazzard.
