Green Zebra Grocery, a quick-stop market offering healthy and locally sourced foods, is new in the Kenton neighborhood and offers discounts for some customers.
The grocery store at 3011 N. Lombard St. offers 10 percent discounts on Tuesdays for customers who are age 62 or better. Students with school identification get 10 percent discounts on Wednesdays. A “Healthy Access” discount is offered every day for SNAP recipients.
Lisa Sedlar, the former CEO of New Seasons Markets, opened Green Zebra on Lombard last October, said Brett Safford, the company marketing coordinator.
The store, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, has a small format for shoppers who want to go in and out quickly, Safford said. In addition to produce and groceries, Green Zebra has a deli counter, a salad bar and a hot food bar.
A second store is planned in Southeast Portland later this year, Safford said.
