Led by Dr. Mark Hosko, a team of ten medical professionals at Portland Urgent Care now occupies the centrally located office building at Northeast 42nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard to provide “comprehensive, compassionate, quality walk-in health care.” In a website video, Dr. Hosko characterizes the practice as the culmination of his 25 years of developing urgent care models into “what it means to be the best.”
Portland Urgent Care follows a parade of unsuccessful restaurants in the renovated Harold Kelly Building in the heart of the Hollywood Business District just a block away from one of the area’s largest and oldest medical practices, Broadway Medical Clinic.
Portland Urgent Care Clinic Manager Jenny Cole said, rather than competing with established practices, the neighborhood newcomers complement them. “Our urgent care clinic deals mainly in ‘same-day’ immediate care needs. We often see Broadway’s patients during late hours when they are closed or on the weekends. In that case, we forward our assessment and treatment plan (chart notes) to Broadway [and] we routinely refer patients to Broadway when they are in need of establishing a primary care physician,” Cole told the Star.
