Organizers of the ninth annual Beverly Cleary School fund-raising auction are inviting supporters to “Have a Ball in Black and White.”
The silent and oral auctions and dinner are scheduled from 6 -10 p.m. March 14 at the Atrium at Montgomery Park, 2701 N.W. Vaughn St.
Tickets, at $55 each, may be purchased in advance through the auction website: beverlycleary.schoolauction.net/2014/register/ticket_sales.
Sale items include works by local artists, weekend trips in Oregon, restaurant meals, theater tickets and classroom art projects.
“This support allows us to provide a well-rounded education and reduce class sizes for our kids,” said Kieren Porter, co-chair of the auction.
In 2013, the auction netted more than $167,000 to help fund technology, library/media, art, basic skills, educational assistants and reduce class sizes in fourth and fifth grades, said Porter.
A portion of auction funds also helps support the Portland Public Schools Foundation, which awarded more than $1 million to 39 Portland schools this year, including a $20,000 grant to Grant High School.
