On Friday, August 22, a new Tony Starlight Showroom will open for business at 1125 S.E. Madison St. in the Buckman Neighborhood, following a seven-year run as Tony Starlight’s Supperclub and Lounge at Northeast 37th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.
“I’ve been trying to expand my business for the last several years, and now it’s come to fruition,” Starlight explained.
The new Showroom, a collaborative venture with Spin Events & Catering, followed an attempt to relocate at the former Poor Richard’s Restaurant. That move would have kept the versatile performer in the Hollywood District. The last performance at the Hollywood venue has been scheduled for the weekend of August 16.
Starlight said that moving to the larger facility will improve the show quality and presentation. He said the Southeast site is designed for a show with a proper stage and no bad seats or tricky angles. In addition, Starlight will be changing to a “Dinner and Show” format, addressing what he characterized as “long waits for food.” Starlight also promised on-site parking, online ticketing, a VIP “Skybox” for special events and parties and additional themed events and group packages.
Because tickets for the Showroom are not yet on sale, Starlight requested patrons not call the club for new venue tickets. As of publication time, a schedule of events for The Tony Starlight Showroom had not been released. Starlight encouraged signing up for e-mail delivery of future show schedules at tonystarlight.com/backstage/newsletter.
“I hope many can spend one last time with us here at ‘The Gateway to Hollywood’ before we make a big splash with our new Showroom,” Starlight said, and he thanked “employees, customers, and musicians that have made Tony Starlight’s Supperclub & Lounge a joy for me to inhabit everyday for the last seven-plus years.”
