The newest pharmacy structure in the Roseway Neighborhood’s International Business District has begun to take shape above the foundation with bricks, mortar and superstructure visible to thousands who pass by daily on Northeast Sandy Boulevard. The typical Walgreen’s store, just under 15,000 square feet, offers 18,000 items for sale and employs about two dozen individuals. Walgreen’s newest retail outlet sits on a site formerly occupied by the Rose City Church of the Nazarene and, before that, by the Roseway Neighborhood’s first Safeway store. The older structure was demolished earlier this year. Walgreen’s operates approximately 80 stores in Oregon.
