Alberta Main Street will launch a new program to increase sales and foot traffic on nontraditional shopping days, Retail Happy Hour on Alberta Street, on Wednesday, June 24.
The promotion will continue weekly, every Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., and nearly 40 Alberta Street retail businesses will be offering special deals and exclusive discounts to shoppers who want to support local, independent retailers. Deals and discounts will vary from week to week and by location.
“Happy Hour is a social event,” said Angie Heiney, co-owner of Frock Boutique and chair of the Alberta Main Street promotion committee. “Customers understand the concept and know there will be deals. They can expect the same at Retail Happy Hour but the deals are on retail items.”
Participating businesses will include Alberta Green House, Alberta Street Gallery, Amelia, Antler Gallery & Store, Alberta Eye Care, Blendily, Bluer Than Indigo, Brides for a Cause, Bristlecone, Candy Babel, Close Knit, Collage, Community Cycling Center, Darling Distraction, Digs, Flowers In Flight, Frock, Gladys Bikes, Grasshopper, Green Bean Books, Local Discoveries, Mimosa Studios, Modern Domestic, Monograph Bookwerks, Nebraska Gallery, pedX, Portland Hemp Works, Red Sail, Redbird Studio, Rutabaga, Screaming Sky, Suite 6 Boutique, Super Natural, Sweetpea’s, The Pencil Test, thicket, Tumbleweed, Una Pluma and Zig Zag Wanderer.
“Everyone loves happy hour. Why not treat yourself to more than just a cocktail and get that outfit, pair of shoes, or piece of art that you’ve been eyeing?” said Amelia Blakeman, owner of the Amelia boutique. “I know I’m excited to take advantage of it as a customer – just as much as I’m excited to be a part of it as a business owner,”
Coordinated by Alberta Main Street, Retail Happy Hour is free and open to the public. Alberta Main Street advances efforts to develop Alberta Street as a vibrant, creative, equitable, and sustainable commercial district serving residents and visitors to the community.
