Plans for the 29th annual Fremont Fest are underway, and the popular Beaumont Village event will be held on Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Northeast Fremont Street between 41st and 49th avenues. The festival will be closed to traffic for live music, food, street vendors and entertainment and attractions for children and adults.
The Beaumont Business Association has hired Katie Meyer of Block Party Barricades and the Belmont Street Fair to coordinate the event this year, and she has plans for two music stages – an Amalfi’s stage and a McPeet’s stage – as well as the annual Kid’s Bike and Pet Parade, sponsored by Whole Foods. Kiauna Floyd of Amalfi’s will be grand marshal of the parade this year and the parade will be led by a Portland fire truck and marching band, followed by a fleet of vintage cars. Children should gather for the parade at the parking lot of Beaumont Middle School, Northeast 42nd and Fremont Street, starting at 9:30 a.m.
“I’m really excited about this year’s 29th annual Fremont Fest,” said Beaumont Business Association President Kurt Sand of Sand’s Solutions. “It should be a great time with something fun for everyone.”
Meyer has secured three major sponsors for the event: Whole Foods, Pip’s Original Doughnuts and Peak Mortgage. Peak is new to the neighborhood and opened in the former Hattie’s Sweet Shop space at 4815 N.E. Fremont St. on July 1. The sales manager at Peak, Eric Dunlap, is well known in the neighborhood as one of the owners of Rose City Futsal.
“Alameda Cafe will host a beer garden around the corner from the event on Northeast 47th Avenue this year, with several local breweries on tap, and the kids activity area will be located in front of Barrett’s Automotive,” said Meyer. “Whole Foods will also be providing healthy snacks for parade participants after the parade.”
Additional sponsors supporting the event include Green Dog Pet Supply, Amenity Shoes, Alameda Brewhouse, OnPoint Community Credit Union, Amalfi’s, Paperjam Press, Jason Zwick at State Farm Insurance, Sand’s Solutions, Meticulous Plumbing and The Arrangement.
Meyer has secured 90 vendors for the event so far, with a few slots still available. To reserve a spot contact moc.l1493387906iamg@1493387906tseft1493387906nomer1493387906f1493387906 or register on the event’s Eventbrite page at www.beaumontvillagepdx.com.
