The 18th Annual Alberta Street Fair will be held on Saturday, August 8, offering an eclectic mix of activities and events from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The free community event will showcase the best of the Alberta Street community and feature entertainment, music, vendors, food and drink for people of all ages. Hosted by Alberta Main Street, the event annually draws more than 25,000 people.
The fair will kick off with a children’s parade, starting at 11 a.m. from Northeast 15th Ave. to 21st Ave. Children who would like to participate in the parade are invited to show up in costume at 10:30 a.m. at the Alberta Co-op parking lot. PDX Kids Calendar and Whole Foods Market will also co-host a Kid’s Activity Corner at Northeast 18th Ave.
Dancing and music will be offered at three stages, located at Northeast 11th Ave., 21st Ave. and 30th Ave. The lineup of performers is available on the Alberta Main Street website at albertamainst.org. Local beverages can be sampled at the Radio Room beer garden at Northeast 11th Ave., from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and at the Bella Faccia beer garden and PDX Urban Wineries Tasting Pavilion between Northeast 29th and 30th Aves. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Vendor registration is still open, and local artists, crafters, makers, organizations and food vendors are invited to participate in the event. More information and registration is available at the Alberta Main Street website, and the registration deadline is July 24.
There are many volunteer opportunities for the event and, in addition to helping put on a great community event, volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a ticket for a beer in the beer garden, as well as an invitation to a volunteer appreciation party in September. Most volunteer shifts are three hours long and sign-up is available at the Alberta Main Street website.
