Seven outdoor pools are open, offering summer fun along with the Portland Parks & Recreation Bureau’s six indoor pools, which are open all year.
Swimming lessons are available at some pools, said Mike Abbate, the bureau director. Water exercise classes, junior lifeguard training, junior swim training, open play swims and special events also are available.
Information about lessons and programs is available at nearby pools or through the bureau’s aquatics office at (503) 823-5130. The Buckman Pool is closed this summer because the Portland school district is installing a new, seismically strengthened roof.
