Matthew Firosz and Rosie McGown have shuttered their neighborhood eatery, The Alameda Cafe in Beaumont Village, and will be focusing their culinary efforts on their other venture, Nepo42 at 5403 N.E. 42nd Ave. in the Concordia neighborhood. The popular neighborhood hangout features house-made American pub fare and 20 beers on tap.
Erika Reagor will open a new restaurant, Thrive Sauce and Bowls, in the space at 4641 N.E. Fremont St. with a “soft” opening planned for early September and full operations, with a full menu, anticipated to be underway toward the middle of the month.
“I sure would like to thank everyone in the neighborhood for giving us a go of it,” said Firosz. “I do think that the new owners of the space and their idea is awesome. I can’t wait to eat there a few times a week. I’d encourage all of our Beaumont customers to come get brunch at Nepo42. We will take real good care of you!”
Thrive Sauce and Bowls will be a fast, casual, family-friendly operation, focusing on healthy food.
“We are committed to sustainability and supporting local purveyors and farmers,” said Reagor, who is a certified nutritionist. “Being fast casual, we hope to appeal to families, couples and singles looking for an affordable, healthy meal that not only tastes good but makes you feel good too.”
Reagor moved to Portland from California in 2010 and has worked in the food industry for ten years. She has traveled to more then 20 countries, following her passion to learn more about different cultures and food, with an emphasis on whole-food cooking that is balanced.
Reagor is busy, trying to get the doors open on her new space as soon as possible. Her partner, Eric Garrett, is a contractor and has taken the lead on the tenant improvement project. They are using a lot of reclaimed wood and are emphasizing bright and cheery colors.
“I can hardly express how grateful I am for Eric’s expertise and acts of service for Thrive,” said Reagor. “I love this cute neighborhood. When I saw this location with all it had to offer, I knew it would be a perfect fit.”
