Katie Robinson has opened Lux Boutique, a new, used and vintage shop – offering home decor, jewelry and men’s and women’s hats, accessories, shoes and clothing – in the Hollywood district. The space next door to Tiger Lily Tattoo at 4612 N.E. Sandy Boulevard was formerly occupied by a Medical Marijuana Card Services Clinic.
Robinson had sustainability in mind when she opened the shop in July, and promotes the reuse of used and vintage items in an effort to reduce unnecessary waste.
“In addition to promoting green living by providing quality used and vintage items, we will also be carrying locally made products including men’s and ladies grooming products and jewelry,” said Robinson. “The space was ready for me to use when I took possession. My landlord did a very nice job of sprucing the space up – with new lighting and flooring – and a fresh coat of paint inside and out. The most significant visual change to the front of the store is our beautiful, lighted sign.”
Robinson previously worked in an office environment and has been reselling in the Portland area as a hobby for more than a decade. She worked with her cousin at Ambrosia, in the Montavilla neighborhood, but when her cousin decided to move her storefront to Beaverton, Robinson decided to find a space of her own that would be closer to home.
“The Hollywood area is a large and dynamic shopping area with something for most everyone,” said Robinson. “Honestly, the biggest draw for me was this beautiful space that my business is in. The historic nature of the building complements what I am selling very well. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my mom and all the support that I got from my family. It’s truly a dream come true. I intend to have events a few times a year and I look forward to working with my neighbors to provide a great shopping experience in the district.”
