An Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Todd Haynes, has joined the Hollywood Theatre board of directors. The not-for-profit organization also has hired Matt Cunningham as its new technical director.
Haynes, a long-time Portland resident, was nominated for the Palme d’Or Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for his film, “Carol,” starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. His other acclaimed films include “Velvet Goldmine” (1998), starring Ewan McGregor, and “Far from Heaven” (2002), starring Julianne Moore and nominated for four Academy Awards.
Hayne’s addition to the board is expected to help raise the Hollywood’s profile among filmmakers, Portland audiences and its programming reputation nationally, said Kristy Conrad, development and marketing director.
Cunningham has worked for ten years with the non-profit Northwest Film Forum in Seattle, serving as technical director from 2008 to 2015. He has technical expertise in multiple film formats, Conrad said. He will be the Hollywood’s primary staff person in charge of technical presentation and equipment maintenance.
