Sunshine Dairy, headquartered in Northeast Portland’s Kerns neighborhood, and local-favorite Moonstruck Chocolate have collaborated on a new product, Moonstruck Drinking Chocolate by Sunshine Dairy, which hit neighborhood grocery shelves in October.
“We are very excited about these two iconic local brands coming together,” said Rob Johnson, Sunshine’s director of revenue operations. “Portland has such a vibrant and collaborative food community and I think this product really speaks to that.”
Unlike traditional chocolate milk, drinking chocolate is made by mixing chocolate ganache with whole milk. The ganache in Sunshine’s product combines Sunshine’s cold-crafted whole milk with the same chocolate and cocoa liquor that Moonstruck uses to make truffles.
“The feedback from our new drinking chocolate has been unbelievable and incredibly exciting,” said Sunshine’s CEO Dirk T. Davis.
