In the summer of 2016, Cascadia Behavioral Health plans to begin reconstruction on a clinic and an affordable apartment complex at 3034 N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in the Eliot neighborhood. Colas Construction will construct the $23 million project that Cascadia is scheduled to open in the fall of 2016.
Plans for the integrated health services and housing center were unveiled at an early December press briefing describing how Cascadia has embarked on the capital redevelopment of its Garlington Center. The redevelopment will establish a new center for integrated primary care, behavioral health and wellness services and a new four-story, 52-unit affordable apartment building.
When the new buildings are completed, Cascadia’s president Derald Walker said this part of the Eliot neighborhood will be illuminated by contemporary design incorporating light, public art, gardens and a welcoming atmosphere. Project architectural firm is Scott/Edwards Architecture, a Portland firm known for distinctive and contemporary work.
