Dan Kunnecke and his wife Telina Rohrer are planning to open a neighborhood wine shop in the former AA Insurance space at 6908 N.E. Sandy Blvd. They have qualified for a matching grant from Metro’s Storefront Revitalization program and are working together with property owner Linda Bowers of Rose City Tax and Accounting to make significant improvements to the building.
If everything goes according to plan, the Roseway neighbors and longtime, local restaurant pros (Andina, Trifecta Tavern, Biwa) hope to open the shop in February. They are working with contractor Matt Hogan of Process Development and architect Nancy Merryman of Merryman Barnes.
“We’ve talked about opening a wine shop for many years, but we never seemed to be quite ready. This year, however, when we saw the vacant storefront, we just had to go for it,” said Rohrer. “We love living here and are so excited to work in the same neighborhood we call home. Our goal is simple, to open a small wine shop that serves our neighborhood.”
