The Cascade Festival of African Films is marking its 26th year, showing feature films and documentaries from 11 African countries between Feb. 5 and March 5.
The festival opened with two screenings of “The Rooftops” by Algeria’s preeminent filmmaker, Merzak Allouache, who was in attendance to discuss his film. The free showings were Feb. 5 at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 N.E. Sandy Blvd.
Other films will be shown at Moriarty Hall on PCC’s Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth St. The schedule of films is at www.africanfilmfestival.org. Two family-friendly films on the schedule are the animated “Kirikou and the Men and Women,” from West Africa, on Feb. 27. “Lamb,” from Ethiopia, will be shown Feb. 25 and 26 at PCC’s Cascade campus, 7
The free festival offers viewers an opportunity to see Africa through the eyes of Africans, according to an announcement from organizers.
