Neighborhood associations are already turning their attention to 2016’s summer months and how to fill the days for families. Since 2007, Portland Parks & Recreation has made feature films available to show in the parks on warm summer evenings. In 2015, PPR counted more than 53,600 attending Movies in the Park.
The program has grown from 13 films in 2007 to 46 films last year shown at 43 sites. During January, some neighborhoods asked residents to select their top three flicks from a list PPR provided on their website. The bureau will announce which movies are to be shown and in which parks later this year.
