Blair Reynolds and Ian Christopher are planning to open a new coffee and cocktail bar called Americano in March at 2605 E. Burnside St. near the Kerns and Buckman neighborhoods. Reynolds is a Tiki master and the owner of Hale Pele on Northeast Broadway, and Christopher is the owner of Coco Donuts, which has a location nextdoor to Hale Pele.
The soon-to-open coffee-bar-by-day/cocktail-bar-by-night has secured the talents of award-winning chef Chris DeBarr from the Green Goddess in New Orleans as general manager and mixologist Kate Bolton from Maven in San Francisco as bar manager.
“The double luck we had in finding both Chris and Kate for our new venture will excite Portland, especially its craft coffee, culinary and cocktail communities,” said Reynolds.
Mornings at Americano will begin with house-roasted coffee, tea and homemade pastries. Throughout the day there will be a brunch menu and, at night, the European-inspired cocktail bar will offer a large selection of cocktails and a small plates menu.
“The food at Americano will pair well with both Americanos – the espresso drink and the Campari-based cocktail,” said DeBarr. “Americano speaks to my love of hospitality, for doing things that are both homegrown and cosmopolitan by celebrating local drinking culture while showcasing the best aspects of our American appetite for culinary innovation and our melting pot of cultures.”
