The Portland Parks and Recreation Bureau is offering an introduction to track and field for third- through eighth-graders, starting at 5:30 p.m. March 28 and continuing to May 4 at U.S. Grant Park, Northeast 33rd Avenue and U.S. Grant Place.
Registration is available with Foot Traffic or at the Northeast Community Center, 1630 N.E. 38th Ave. The $35 fee covers a T-shirt, coaching and any meet entry fees.
Four all-comer track and field meets are scheduled as part of the program, starting March 31, but they aren’t mandatory. The bureau describes the program as an introduction to track and field and a “low-key, no-cut activity with lots of running, jumping and throwing.”
