Junior Bryana Hanks has been selected as Jefferson High School’s representative to the 2016 Rose Festival Court. The seventh of 16 princesses to be selected, Hanks was named in a ceremony at the school on Tuesday afternoon. The other students selected for Jefferson’s court were Ky Ky Burns and Sabrin Sanders.
Jefferson’s 2015 princess and current Queen of Rosaria Kahedja Burley spoke to the assembly before crowning Hank’s as this year’s princess.
“My favorite Rose Festival event is the City Fair, because I love heights and rides,” said Hanks. “My friends and I get a big bowl of curly fries and a large cup of strawberry lemonade to share. When I was younger, I always got my face painted. Usually I wanted to get a big pink and purple butterfly around my eyes.”
Hanks will receive a $3,500 scholarship provided by The Randall Group. The Rose Festival Court is sponsored by Unitus Community Credit Union and the Queen of Rosaria will be named the morning of June 11, prior to the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade.
