The space, next door to Subway Sandwiches, was previously home to the Bridge City Aquarium store and before that the offices of Spanish-language newspaper El Latino de Hoy. After Bridge City moved out, landlord Bill Bitar cleaned the space up and remodeled it to restore it for office use.
“When I was accepted with State Farm, I chose the Roseway neighborhood to launch my business because I know it’s a great neighborhood with a lot of growth potential and a strong sense of community,” said Hayter. “My three-year-old daughter loves Annie’s Donuts and playing at the Roseway Play Cafe. Coming to work with Dad is very exciting for her now that I am in this location.”
Hayter’s Roseway team includes account managers Zach Lebovits, Chad MacTaggart and Nick Marshall and customer service specialist Melinda Duus.
“I am new to the insurance business, but I completed an 11-month internship with State Farm and I finished at the top of my class,” said Hayter. “I am mentored by the top three agents in the Portland area and enjoy the strong support and backing of the State Farm brand.”
“I grew up in a family business and we sold to a big corporation in 2008,” Hayter said. “My grandfather started Koldkist Beverage Ice in his garage when my mom was in high school. I started working there when I was 16, during summers and after school at Jesuit High and the University of Portland.”
“I continued to work under new management at Koldkist for about five years as a distribution manager and left to help a friend build and develop the transportation division for Resource Staffing,” said Hayter. “I helped local transportation companies with their driver needs and Department of Transportation qualifications. I learned that I really liked helping people and I started to get an itch to open my own business.”
“When I went through the process to be accepted by State Farm, I found it was the perfect company for me to align with. We are a very service-oriented business. We want our customers to know that they are well protected with our agency and if there is ever any problem, we will be there to help. We are looking to be a strong part of our local community and support our fellow small and local businesses. I want neighbors to be able take pride in saying that I am their agent and to refer their friends and family to my office. We provide a service that makes a difference in people’s lives.”
Hayter supports the Hollywood Theatre as a sponsor and is also a Rotarian.
“Our club is great. It sponsors local children with college scholarships and provides them with supplies they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford. We also create grocery bags for families in the community around the holidays. It’s a great way to be a part of the local community and help where I can.”
