The 14th annual Filmed by Bike Film Festival returns to the Hollywood Theatre for a second straight year this month to showcase independent movies about bicycling and bicycle culture.
“We are so excited to be back in the Hollywood neighborhood,” said Ayleen Crotty, festival director. “The theater and neighbors have been incredibly supportive of Filmed by Bike and I look forward to being here for years to come. What an awesome neighborhood! I’ve loved it since the early 2000’s when I was the volunteer coordinator at the farmer’s market.”
A New Belgium street party, adjacent to Velo Cult Bike Shop and Tavern, opens the festival on Friday, May 6 from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. The free event will feature live entertainment, a beer garden, food vendors, a video-confessional storytelling booth, a photo booth, parking lot games and a gigantic bike parking area.
“Filmed by Bike presents the world’s best independent bike movies,” said Crotty. “We love hosting the festival in a city with an unbridled passion for two wheels and an appreciation for the cinematic side of the films with gorgeous footage and innovative film-making techniques.”
Several neighborhood businesses will be participating in the festival. Velo Cult has a special New Belgium beer from their rare Lips of Faith series on tap all month long and Nectar Cafe in the Hollywood Mall will be offering a ten percent discount to all festival goers who show their ticket stub or helmet.
