The six-story mixed-use residential/commercial building proposed for what was once a Taco Time fast food restaurant at 5036 N.E. Sandy Blvd. is currently in the design review process with the City of Portland, according to developer Vic Remmers. Remmers said he was looking forward to attending a late October Rose City Park Neighborhood Association meeting following a September huddle with the association’s land use and transportation committee.
“We enjoyed meeting with the committee. It was a great opportunity to discuss community member thoughts and questions,” Remmers said, “We feel this new mixed-use apartment project will be a welcome addition to Northeast Portland, providing increased urban housing opportunity as the city continues to grow in population.”
The top five floors of the proposed building are planned for 89 apartments, and the ground floor will hold retail space fronting Northeast Sandy Boulevard, a building lobby facing Northeast 51st Avenue and 21 parking spaces. The project is across the street from the Rheinlander restaurant, which was recently sold and will close early in 2017 to be redeveloped.
