In November, the ownership trio behind Pollo Norte at 5427 NE 42nd Ave., in the Concordia neighborhood – brothers Kelly and Wade Shelton and their friend Ryan Gibson – will open a second outpost of their popular Mexico City-style rotisserie chicken eatery at 2935 N.E. Glisan St. in the Kerns neighborhood.
The former Kerns Kitchen space offers a large, covered outdoor dining area and room for off-street parking. The larger space is also an ideal hub for centralized delivery and will house a commissary kitchen to handle prep work for catering and other events. As part of the remodeling process, two rotisserie ovens were imported from Mexico City.
In addition to serving Pollo Norte’s menu of chicken and sides from its original location, the new restaurant will offer a simple bar focused on Latin American spirits – specifically mezcals, tequilas and rums.
“We are really excited to have found this location,” said Kelly Shelton. “The extra space gives us the opportunity to centralize production for both shops and there is room for a little bar program. It’s also really exciting to be a part of such a great established food neighborhood.”
