Mario Segovia and Roberto Diaz will open El Burrito Azteca this month in the former home of Mama Leo’s restaurant at 6728 N.E. Sandy Boulevard in the Roseway neighborhood. Diana Delima and Carolina Blanco shuttered the Caribbean-inspired Mama Leo’s in November after a four-year run.
On the first of March, Segovia will celebrate the eight-year anniversary of El Burrito Azteca at 1942 N. Rosa Parks Way in the Arbor Lodge neighborhood and – if everything goes according to plan – he and Diaz will open their slightly smaller Roseway outpost on that same day.
El Burrito Azteca is known in Arbor Lodge for it’s family-friendly Mexican counter service and welcoming neighborhood bar, serving burritos, tacos, enchiladas, draft beer and a wide selection of tequilas.
“I’m excited to be opening in Roseway,” said Segovia. “People love my food. All I ask is that you come in and try me just one time. You will leave with the biggest smile on your face you’ve ever had.”
