The Cully Farmers Market will open for the 2017 season on Thursday, June 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the lot behind the former Roses Ice Cream and Gina’s Cafe – between Red Sauce Pizza and Old Salt Marketplace – at 5011 N.E. 42nd Ave. in the Concordia neighborhood.
This year’s market will be managed by Jessica Jazdzewski and Alexey Moore, of the Our 42nd Ave. neighborhood prosperity initiative. The market aims to provide an inclusive community gathering space that offers local, affordable, healthy food and nurtures local, sustainable economic growth.
“If you grow food, or you are a local artisan with handmade goods and products, there are affordable booths and spaces available,” said Moore. “If you’d like to try selling your wares, you can sign up for a spot at our free community table. You can drop off produce donations on market day and all sales will go to support the Neighbor Voucher Program. This program provides free tokens to families that can’t easily afford groceries. The market is also looking for community members interested in leading workshops and activities. We can provide a free booth for anyone who would like to lead a workshop related to food or health.”
