Last month, Dr. Laura Washington re-opened Luminance Yoga & Naturopathy in Beaumont Village. The naturopathic physician and yoga instructor had to close her shop at 3430 N.E. 41st Ave. after damage from this winter’s snow and ice storm in January. The space has been under construction for nearly four months, while drywall, insulation and a cork floor were replaced.
“I have to say I’m so happy to be back,” said Washington. “It feels nice. I’m kind of right where I was when we opened a year ago – with a sweet, little spot that brings me so much joy. I’d like to give a shout out to Jef Atwood at Umpqua Bank, who mowed my lawn twice while I was getting ready to open. Leah (Malley) at State Farm lent a sympathetic ear and took care of my mail and my packages while I was down. All of my neighbors were so kind and sympathetic, especially Liz (Page) at Amenity and Robin (Ady) at Gazelle. Bob Asher at Asher Insurance Services was fabulous and helpful. He worked really, really hard to get me back in business.”
As Washington gets back up to speed with Luminance, she’ll have a new schedule and new offerings, including classes that will be offered in sessions, restorative classes and monthly retreats. The first retreat is scheduled for Sunday, June 11.
“The retreats will alternate being held on Saturdays, Sundays and an occasional Monday holiday to accommodate as many schedules as possible,” said Washington. “The days are dedicated to exploring your here and now and you can attend just one retreat – or attend them all.”
