Beaumont Village businesses are ramping up preparations for the 31st annual Fremont Fest on Saturday, August 5, sponsored by the Beaumont Business Association. Activities begin with a lively Kid, Bike and Pet Parade at 10:00 a.m. Local families are encouraged to join the parade. Car2Go, Frazier Wealth Management, Peak Mortgage, Pip’s Original Doughnuts and Whole Foods are the major sponsors for this year’s event. Supporting sponsors include Alameda Brew Pub, Amalfi’s restaurant, Green Dog Pet Supply, PDX Block Party and Silhouette boutique. Northeast Fremont street will be closed to car traffic from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. between 42nd and 51st avenues.
The Grand Marshals for this year’s parade will be John and Cleo Rumpakis, co-founders of both Fremont Fest and the Beaumont Business Association.
After the parade, thousands of neighbors and dozens of vendors will take to the street for a day of merchandising, music, food, beverages and fun. There will be a bounce house, a dunk tank and plenty of fun for families. Americana Frame will feature authors Rachel Robinson, Boo Boo McFarland, Stephen H. King and Baer Charlton signing their works. Blackbird Wine Shop – which will celebrate its ten-year anniversary next month – will have special deals and tastings throughout the day. Nancy Tilton of Dee’s Golden Door will offer $10 haircuts in the parking lot. Deb Fields at Paperjam Press will be offer temporary tattoos for kids and will provide a courtyard of tables for people to sit, eat or rest. For thirsty adults, participating taverns and restaurants will be serving tasters to neighbors who purchase mugs for the annual Pub Crawl. Mugs will be on sale most of the day at the information tent in front of Beaumont Market and at Peak Mortgage.
Neighbors are encouraged to volunteer their time to assist with the festival. For more information and a link to sign up, visit www.beaumontvillagepdx.com.
