The 20th Annual Alberta Street Fair, presented by car2go, will be held on Saturday, August 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with an eclectic mix of activities on Alberta Street between Northeast 11th and 30th avenues.
The free community event will showcase the best of the Alberta Street community and feature entertainment, music, vendors, food and drink for people of all ages. Hosted by Alberta Main Street, the event annually draws more than 25,000 people.
The fair kicks off with the seventh annual Kids’ Parade, starting promptly at 11:00 a.m. at 15th Avenue and ending at the Center Stage at 21st Avenue. Children who would like to participate should meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Alberta Co-op parking lot. After the parade, the World of Smiles Pediatric Dentistry Kid’s Corner at 18th Avenue will offer family-friendly activities and entertainment until 6:00 p.m., including Portland’s favorite clowns, Olive & Dingo.
Musical entertainment is offered from three stages and ranges from jazz and country to rock and world beats. The Vernon School rock band, Molten Glass, will perform at the El Nutri Taco Center Stage at 21st Avenue. The Portland Kora Project will perform traditional West African tunes and original compositions rooted in American jazz and folk at the Tin Shed East End Stage at 30th Avenue and the Scott Pemberton Band, presented by BoltBus, will headline the US Bank Main Stage at 11th Avenue.
The two family-friendly beer gardens offer a wide variety of local and regional beers, from pilsners, porters and IPAs to crafted ciders, along with live entertainment. The Radio Room Beer Garden is located at 11th Avenue and the Stella Taco Beer Garden is located between 29th and 30th Avenues. All proceeds benefit Alberta Main Street.
Local artists, crafters, organizations and food vendors will also participate in this popular event.
A suggested $2.00 donation supports the Main Street organization and can be made at the information booth at 1722 N.E. Alberta Street and at the beer gardens. Organizers ask that neighbors consider walking, biking or taking public transportation to the fair. Extra bike parking will be provided, courtesy of New Seasons Market.
