Oregon Children’s Theatre will join six other theaters across the country in producing a play adapted from two of the Judy Moody books.
Each theater will independently produce the new play from fall 2017 to spring 2019. The Oregon Children’s Theatre, 1939 N.E. Sandy Blvd., has scheduled the play from Oct. 21 to Nov. 9, said Ava Brogi, the marketing assistant.
The Judy Moody chapter books, written by Megan McDonald, feature a precocious heroine with a range of moods, good and bad, happy and sad. Playwright Allison Gregory was commissioned to create the play.
“I’m thrilled readers will get to see my books make the leap from page to stage,” McDonald said. “Judy Moody has been to Antarctica, the Freedom Trail, Artichoke Island and college. She has gone around the world in eight (and a half) days. But never before has she been on stage.”
