On August 3, the national ridesharing company Lyft celebrated the opening of its new Portland headquarters at 2712 N. Mississippi Ave. in the Eliot neighborhood. The colorful, industrial-style “hub” space provides support and troubleshooting for local drivers. During the event, Todd Kelsay, Lyft’s Pacific Northwest general manager, announced Lyft Portland’s new status as official rideshare partner of the Portland Thorns.
“We’re thrilled to have this hub up and running for our drivers,” said Kelsay. “This city embodies so many of the values that Lyft was built upon, and we’re looking forward to connecting with our drivers, riders, and community organizations.”
The hub is designed to serve as an example of Lyft’s stated commitment to building a connected internal culture, by creating a space where drivers can come together for assistance with the Lyft app, receive vehicle safety inspections or take a break.
“I’m excited to be here to launch the hub and to have a place to go to meet other drivers and share stories.,” said Tory Powell, a Portland Lyft driver and military veteran. “As part of the Lyft community, I have connected with other veterans who have had a difficult time transitioning back into civilian life.”
