Grant Park neighbor David Pietka – a well-known advocate and coach for youth track and field in the neighborhood and an owner of several neighborhood properties and businesses – is working with Maura White and the Hollywood Boosters to develop and implement a “Clean and Safe” program for the Hollywood District, modeled after the program that Central City Concern manages for downtown Portland. Pietka has formed a sub-committee with the boosters and has met with Clay Cooper at Central City Concern to develop a proposal for consideration by the businesses, property owners and residents of the district.
“It has been stated by many that Hollywood needs to be cleaned up and maintained as an attractive place to work, shop and live,” said Pietka. “The problem is evident, the solution is at hand, but resources are scarce. A budget is being created and resources will be sought. Meetings will be held in September to gain community support for this effort.”
