Portland Public Schools is seeking community ideas and comments on plans to develop two new middle schools, which some parents have been seeking. A preliminary proposal is to convert seven K-8 schools to K-5s, and to open a new K-5 school.
Feeder schools for a Tubman Middle School would be Boise-Eliot/Humboldt, Irvington, Martin Luther King Jr. and Sabin. Feeder schools for a Roseway Heights Middle School would include Rose City Park, Lee, Scott and Vestal.
Boundary changes would be required to ensure balanced enrollment among the K-5s, according to Laura Parker, the district’s chief strategic officer.
