So many books– 30,000 of ‘em. So little time – only four days. Yet, the annual fall used book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Multnomah County Library, promises bargains, a trivia contest and a Collectors Corner of fine books.
Members of the Friends organization can attend a pre-sale from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 6 at the exhibit hall in the Lloyd Center DoubleTree Hotel, 1000 N.E. Multnomah St. The Collector’s Corner will be open. The Friends request that no one bring electronic devices to check prices during the pre-sale.
The public sale will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 7, with the Collector’s Corner open and the trivia contest scheduled from 6-9 p.m.
On Oct. 8, the sale will continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and educators with school ID will get 50 percent off purchases. On Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., everything will be 50 percent off original prices.
Hardcover and quality trade paperback prices start at $2. Mass market paperbacks and children’s books begin at 50 cents and $1. CDs are priced at $1 and DVDs at $2. Also available are comic books, audio books, LPs, video games, sheet music and maps.
The hotel is near TriMet and MAX lines. Vouchers for $3 parking in the hotel garage are available.
