Brother dentists Jon and Brett Daby are moving forward to bring their practices under one roof at 6600 N.E. Sandy Blvd., fulfilling a longtime dream. Ground was broken in midsummer, the parking lot at the Smiles on Sandy dental clinic was removed, and foundation work was underway by mid-September. Brett Daby DDS will eventually close Blue Sky in Hollywood and move to the expanded Roseway dental offices.
The Dabys, third and fourth dentists in three generations, grew up around their maternal grandfather’s Grafton, North Dakota, practice, which their father took over. He in turn eventually offered the practice to the brothers, “…but both Brett and I were drawn to Portland with its nearby mountains and west coast appeal,” Dr. Jon explained.
With practices merged, the brothers will employ a staff of fourteen, including receptionists, hygienists, associate dentists and dental assistants. “There will be fewer clinic closure days and more appointments will be available,” said Dr. Jon, “and we’ll continue to give our patients the attention and care a local, family-run practice affords.” Dr. Jon felt especially good about being able to continue and expand the family practice begun by Herb Marshack and continued by Dr. Ken Marshack for over 30 years in the Roseway neighborhood.
Dr. Jon and his family live in Sabin, and Dr. Brett and his family reside in Cully. Both outdoor enthusiasts, they are proud to have given their parents seven grandchildren between them, the latest two cousins born only days apart last February.
