Excitement filled the air as one of Oregon’s low-profile but highly successful businesses broke ground in Mid-September for a new national headquarters and network operations center at Portland International Airport. About 150 of Cook Security Group’s 250+ employees will occupy the new three-story, 26,000-square-foot building.
CEO and President Brian Cook said the move from the current Milwaukie headquarters is the result of a long process. “We are moving to what we feel is the perfect area for our growing company. With our focus on cybersecurity, remote technologies and managed services, a network operations center within our headquarters will combine our ongoing direction in technology with our traditional security service and product lines.”
Cook added that the Portland Airport location “allows us to showcase our technologies to customers, fly in staff for training and have additional room to grow and expand.”
Founded in 2002, Cook started with just five employees in Oregon and $50,000 in revenue. These days, Cook’s 250+ employees nationally are aiming at surpassing $50 million in revenue. Cook Security Group was created out of the bankruptcy of Mosler, a one-time security giant where Brian Cook was Oregon branch general manager. After Mosler failed, several customers begged Cook to continue managing their service.
Cook provides security and technology coverage for the entire continental United States, investing heavily in remote managed services of all types, including alarms, ATMs, video, access control and managing service lines for video monitoring, case management, analytics reporting, cyber security and vulnerability testing. Financial institutions, over 500 in 18,000 branches, make up 80% of
Cook’s clientele, with large commercial and data center spaces making up the remaining 20 percent.
