Cleo Adeline Rumpakis of Portland has published Hellenic Tour USA: Capturing History, a 392-page, state-by-state guide to sites, people, place names, art and academic collections and other items associated with Greeks in America.
Assisted by Katherina Adeline, Rumpakis started with an idea for listing a few destination points associated with Greeks and Greek history in the United States, she told The National Herald earlier this year. However, once she began her research, she realized that with some digging, she could show a story of the overall immigrant experience, she said.
She went on a five-year journey, as she described it, to dig into local histories and archives to create the paperback guide, which is suitable to take on a trip. It includes references to other source material, contact information and websites to aid in finding sites, monuments and unique architecture. The guide, available for $15, may be ordered at ten.k1513332503nilyr1513332503utnec1513332503@ruot1513332503cinel1513332503leh1513332503 .
