Fremont Theater owner David Shur confirmed the closing of the business in mid-November. Shur said the reason for the closure was economic.
“Drink sales have been inadequate to meet overhead, and I probably charged too little to rent the space for private events and such,” said Shur.
He added that he deeply appreciated the support he received from neighbors, and that the theater was “certainly not driven away by noise complaints from residents.”
One such patron was Ed Reckford, who said, “They have booked some very interesting musical acts there. The room was well-designed as a music venue. The food and drink were decent. It was a welcome addition to the neighborhood.”
